MacLeod's Fine Art Studio
Owned by: Alanna MacLeod
The two-tiered store has various areas that Alanna has turned into sitting and posing areas for portraits on the lower floor.
A small sitting area where people can wait in comfort as well as paying for the portraits when finished. There is always someone who will be in charge of the front desk, with appointments, calls, and the register. Alanna will be doing it until someone else is hired. It is elegantly decorated in silver, hunter green, and purple colors. This is pretty much all the decorating since the rest of the studio gets paint splattered.
Right behind this area and off to the left is a small gallery that has various paintings hung up on the walls or laying on easels or other stands about the room. Portraits, landscapes, and other things that Alanna has done over the years. Mostly it is her personal collection which she has yet to sell off, but may change her mind depending on the offer. This is set up to show prospective clients what she is capable of doing.
Through the archway past the gallery, there will be different areas that are separated by Chinese screens, the ones that fold up and can be moved somewhere else when needed. They are all decorated by silk-screening that Alanna had dabbled in while in Hong Kong. There are various chairs, tables, chaises, lounges, and other furniture that Alanna is gathering for the sittings. Track lighting is set up all over the studio, but she is also able to set up other kinds of lighting when it is needed. In one area there is a special place for animal portraits. She is also able to set up various sheets of canvas that have a variety of backgrounds she has painted over the years.
In the back of these areas is a huge closet full of props and smaller furniture. There are things that Alanna can pull out to spark up a portrait or a still-life. Lighting fixtures are also set up in one area of the closet. A smaller closet is next to it that is filled with all of her painting supplies, from paints, to easels, to canvases, and to brushes of all types and sizes.
On the second floor, Alanna has a small office - sparsely decorated - and a slightly larger room where the paintings can dry without getting messed up. There are also two more rooms where the clients can change in to what they want to wear for the painting. She also has costumes from various eras, thanks to her collection and Regan's, that people can also choose. They range from glamorous ball-gowns and tuxedos, to cowboy wear, to period pieces, to exotic and erotic costumes. There are also robes for the clients to wear if they want a nude portrait, but don't want to come down in the buff. She also took the time to decorate these rooms for the comfort and relaxation of her clients.
Paintings are done either by appointment or on a whim if Alanna has the time for whoever may walk in. Though this is only for quick sketches done in either charcoal or pastels. Also, people can drop off photographs and instructions for an oil painting and pick it up at a later time.
Of course, due to her being a vampire, all her painting is done in the night hours. She has been known to pull people off the street if they catch her eye and beg them to sit for her. It also doesn't matter who they are - vampire, were, human, fey, or anyone else. She is open to everyone. Since this studio is just starting to come together, she has a lot of time on her hands. Her fees are less than most people will think since she doesn't really need the money. She just wants to keep busy and meet people. She's open to helping others with various techniques or skills, but will not hold classes since she'll being teaching a class at the college in the spring.
