Department of Parapsychology: College of Paranormal
Studies
Written up by: Jenn
The Deparment of Parapsychology is a division of the Scientific Studies Department at the University of Maine. Most of the students at the University refer to the Department as the Spook Department. So far, the Department has managed to get enough students interested in the courses each semester to keep the Department running. Most students take the Paraspsychology courses as electives. Since the department opened up in the late 1960's only 100 students have graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Paraschycological studies. Only 15 students have graduated with a Masters.
Course work is focused primarily around the study of physical research, testing, and experimentation. Testing is often carried out on volunteer students and supernaturals from the community.
Dr. Frederick Birch:
Department Chairperson and Research Professor. Dr. Birch is a handsome, debonair silver-haired gentleman. No one has yet to know the actual age of Dr. Birch; everyone remembers Dr. Birch having been the Head of the Department since the mid 70's. Dr. Birch is a member of the Hand of God. He's been using his position to identify psychics and supernaturals for the Hand.
Dr. Joanne Heller: Assistant Department Chairperson.
Dr. Heller is in her late 40's, raising two teenage boys after a messy divorce. She is a close friend of Dr. Birch who helped her when her husband left her. Dr. Heller's sympathies are with the Hand of God.
Dr. Elliot Smitherson: History/Mythology Professor.
Dr. Smitherson is the resident History expert on the supernatural. He knows more about the history of supernaturals and mythology than anyone else in the department. Dr. Smitherson is 55 and has been with the department for 15 years.
Dr. Ellen Young:
Dr. Young is a Wiccan priestess who specializes in studies of the Religious beliefs of Supernaturals. She does not get along very well with Dr. Birch or Dr. Heller. Dr. Young is the newest member of the department in her late thirties.
